Divaris Real Estate Completes Seven Retail Leases Totaling Approximately 53,000 SF in Hampton Roads

VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA:  Gerald S. Divaris, chairman and CEO of Divaris Real Estate, Inc. (DRE), announced the signing of seven leases totaling 52,799 square feet. All leases were handled out of DRE’s Virginia Beach office.

Mellow Mushroom leased 6,500 square feet of retail space at The Marketplace at Tech Center, located at 12070 Jefferson Ave., in Newport News. The lease negotiations were handled on behalf of the landlord, The Marketplace at Tech Center, LLC, by Erica Meekins Rorrer and Mary McGovern. This will be Mellow Mushroom’s first restaurant in Hampton Roads. The pizzeria was established in Atlanta, Ga. in 1974, and has more than 160 stores in 19 states. Marketplace at Tech Center is the mixed-use lifestyle center component of Tech Center at Oyster Point, a $250 million development on 100 acres in the heart of Newport News.

Taste leased 3,889 square feet at the Riverfront Shoppes, located at 5911 Harbour View Blvd., in Suffolk. The lease negotiations were handled on behalf of the tenant by Sezin Cortinas. Taste is a locally-owned and -operated restaurant that specializes in made-to-order sandwiches from local sources. This will be Taste’s seventh location in Hampton Roads.

Pivot Point Complete Fitness, LLC leased 2,690 square feet at the Divaris-leased and –managed College Parkway Crossing, located at 6540 Hampton Roads Pkwy., in Suffolk. Lease negotiations were handled on behalf of the landlord, CTR Associates, L.L.P., by Levi Thomson and Melinda Pezzella. Pivot Point is a Crossfit gym designed for universal scalability, making it the perfect exercise for committed individuals.

T-Mobile leased 2,385 square feet at Hilltop South, located at 1721 Laskin Road, in Virginia Beach. The lease negotiations were handled on behalf of the tenant by Erica Meekins Rorrer. T-Mobile is a national provider of wireless voice, messaging, and data services capable of reaching more than 293 million Americans.

Virginia Hearing Consultants, LLC leased 1,600 square feet at the Divaris-leased and –managed Brenneman Farm Shopping Center, located at 4540 Princess Anne Road, in Virginia Beach. The lease negotiations were handled on behalf of the landlord, Brenneman Farm Retail Associates, LLC, by Levi Thomson and Melinda Pezzella. Virginia Hearing Consultants offers a full range of diagnostic and preventative hearing healthcare professional services, and has served Hampton Roads for more than nine years.

Food Lion renewed its lease for 29,000 square feet at the Divaris-leased and –managed Glenwood Shoppes, located at 8401 Hampton Blvd., in Norfolk. The lease negotiations were handled on behalf of the landlord, Midlantic Builders Glenwood, LLC, by David Bickford. Food Lion has more than 1,100 stores in 10 states, employing 62,000 people. Norfolk has eight other Food Lion locations.

Funny Bone Comedy Club renewed its lease for 6,735 square feet at the Divaris-leased and –managed Town Center of Virginia Beach, located at 217 Central Park Ave., in Virginia Beach. The lease negotiations were handled on behalf of the landlord, Armada Hoffler Block 8 Associates, by Gerald Divaris, Mary McGovern, Sezin Cortinas and Erica Meekins Rorrer. The first Funny Bone opened in Pittsburgh, Pa. more than 30 years ago and is recognized as a pioneer in accommodating diverse community needs.
